In loving memory of Surinder Kaur Gill who passed away peacefully in hospital after battling illness on 3rd March 2016

A truly devout Sikh and academic, devoted and loving mother, grandmother and member of the community. She always helped in whichever way she could and lived a life of spirituality practicing the Sikh principles in a very humble and sincere way. A true ambassador of positive humanitarian work and lifelong learning. Always dignified and caring and with a lovely sense of humour.

You will be sorely missed by all whose lives you touched and inspired. Your suffering is now over and your legacy of love, staying strong and hopeful, and your belief in community cohesion will be remembered and continue through us all.

To carry on her work and belief in practical, charitable community and humanitarian work (seva) instead of flowers the family respectfully ask that Surinder’s wish for donations be granted - please see the Charity section of the obituary - with our thanks

Raj and Jag, with love and deep sadness I want to say your Mum was amazing. She will be greatly missed by all but none more so than by the two of you. Hoping with all my heart the knowledge that Mum is now at peace and in a better place free of this earth's trials and sufferings provides some comfort and solace. Mrs Gill, thank you for who you were and how you touched my life and many others I'm sure. Rest now, the peace and calm you wished for us all is yours forever more.

Mum you were humble dignified and giving all your life. It was an honour to call you my mother. No better role model for a gentle caring and loving human being could match the way you lived and demonstrated the Sikh principles so actively and devotedly. Thank you for all you did and all you taught me and your grand children. Forever in our hearts and always in our actions and choices as members of the wider community. We love you xxx
