In loving memory of Joyce Irene Somerville ( Nee Williams and Pope) who sadly passed away on 27th February 2016

What can I say about mum? In fact, I think the question should be where do I begin?

Mum was unique, she was an Angel who walked amongst us. Never seeing the bad in people and always had a knack for putting a positive spin even on the most negative of situations.

Your smile and laughter were infectious.

A lady who not only encouraged, rallied, supported the underdog she also managed to inspire everyone who came into contact with her.

Mum was a beautiful lady inside and out, her heart was so big and her genuine, loving nature was second to no one.
Her crazy, silly, zany nature led to the most funniest if moments..there was never a dull moment when mum was around. The lady who hated to be bored so mischief was created!

A lifetime of challenges and exciting adventures she led not only with my dad but also with me and then in recent years with Pete. Even for the short years you two found happiness it was crammed packed with crazy stories of chaos on your travels.

Not to dwell on mums diagnosis but the type of MND mum had only had an average lifespan of 9 months and mum lasted 23.5 months! That in itself reminds us just how determined and strong willed mum could be when set about anything. Nothing was going to beat her!

Mum always had the ability to think outside the box, if there was a company she fancied working for and there was not a position available she would find a way to for the bosses to create one for her, where she got this confidence from us beyond me!

My mum, without doubt was one wonderfully magic lady and I am honoured to have called her my mum.

Mum, you will remain a much loved and hugely missed

Mum to me and Helen

A wife to Pete and my late dad Bill.

A Grandmother to Daniel Harvey, Shelly Beckman, Victoria Petre , Emily Petre ,Emily Somerville and Zoe Somerville

Great Grandmother to Caitie, Noah and Harry Beckman

Auntie and friend to so, so many.

The Angel that walked amongst us has now returned home to watch over us.

Goodnight, God bless we love you always and forever.

Pippa

Joyce was indeed a very special lady, beautiful in mind and spirit. Her valiant, inspiring fight with the illness of the past months has been awesome. The world will be a sadder place without her shining light.
Rest in Peace, dear Joyce. Gwyneth Stratten (ex WRAC Provost)
