In loving memory of Eric Hinman better known to everyone as Twink.
Twink passed away peacefully and pain free on Friday 26th February 2016, surrounded by his family, just as he wished. He had been ill for the past few months; however, he fought his way through the thick and thin of it until the very end. Very apt and fitting to his strong nature and stubborn personality!
Twink lived a full and happy life, and as many who knew him can vouch, he did it his way and nobody could tell him any different! Very much “it’s my way or the highway”! Twink was a humorous, old school kind of guy, who said what he thought with little regard for what others thought. His employment history ranged from driving miles around the country and beyond, to building houses in the village he was born and bred in. Throughout his life he was always keen on a good bargain, which also included a fair bit of wheeling and dealing – Delboy eat your heart out! This also led him to venture into the realms of working in the scrap metal industry, meeting many a new acquaintances along the way.
Twink was an avid Nottingham Forest fan and on many occasions drove coach loads of supporters from the village, to build up the fan base and to enjoy the camaraderie of a good football match, even amongst all the mischief and mayhem they often found themselves in (Mick Hill, Wembley)! Twink’s support for Forest will continue, as he passed his love for the team through the generations via his son’s Stan and Darryl. When they were younger he took them at every opportunity to matches home or away. Twink’s other interests included crosswords and puzzles, spending time at the pub having a pint of bitter and game of cards or dominoes.
One thing a lot can relate to Twink is he made a lasting mark on all those close to him, especially his grandchildren, Kelly, Jamie, Lynsey, Tommy, Reggie, Jessica, Lucy and Joel, giving them all their own unique nicknames. This has also been carried on in the newest generation, through his only great-grandchild Scarlett Mae.
Although not always expressed, Twink’s greatest loves were his wife Val, who sadly passed away 7 years ago and his children Stan, Darryl and Amanda. Although not with us now it is comforting to know that he will be with Val, having a good old knee’s up at one of their favourite jaunts, such as Storthfields or The Tudor.
To celebrate his life there will be a service at Mansfield Crematorium on Monday 14th March 2016 at 12:15, followed by drinks and food at Pinxton Village Hall.
Twink’s family have expressed that anybody wishing to do so can send flowers but donations for Ashgate Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
