In loving memory of Barbara Ireland who sadly passed away on 13th January 2016 aged 95 years.

Barbara Wright was born on the Isle of Wight on the 9th March 1920, and was brought up by her Mother and Grandmother.
She had an elder brother Jack, who when married, moved to South Africa.
Her younger sister Marian when married moved to Bolton.
Her younger brother Peter married and stayed on the Island.

Barbara was the last survivor of this family.

She was schooled on the I.o.W. and it was there she met her future husband.
Joseph Ireland from London, was in the Royal Hampshire Regiment, and stationed there for a short while, during WW2.
They married on 2nd June 1941 and had their first child, Anthony on 9th August 1943.
When the War was over they moved to London.

In 1948, Joseph, now with British Ropes Ltd., was offered the management of their new Southampton Branch.
Their second son, Paul was born in Southampton, later that year on the 19th August.

Then in 1951 their daughter Penny was born on the 9th January.

Since 1948 Barbara lived all her life in the same house in Bitterne Park, Southampton with husband Joseph.
They helped with several Charities, including the Inskip League and were Founder Members of the Southampton branch of the Cancer Relief Charity.

Barbara touched the hearts of many with her love and kindness, and will be sadly missed by all.
