At the Funeral Service it was my honour and privilege to deliver the Eulogy, the text of which appears below.

When putting this together I was faced by the challenge of deciding what to include and what to leave out - Mum left such a vast store of lovely memories from which to choose. I hope that you will find something in the four pages that will help remind you of happy times spent in her company and that you will forgive me for what I have had to exclude either through selection or ignorance.

I have very fond memories of Aunty June. I will always remember her kindness, sense of humor and her exceptional craft skills. I recall when Aunty June came to America to celebrate my parent's wedding anniversary she transformed their home with Christmas decorations that she seemed to conjure out of thin air. It will always be a memory I treasure.

Auntie June and my mum were very close, and like my mum, Auntie June was always quick to let me know when I wasn't behaving myself. I recall she and I sitting on a sofa at my home in the US, Auntie June having made the transatlantic trip in her eighties, and not for the first time. We each had a glass of wine in our hands, chatting about what I don't recall... "Peter," she said, "could you please stop inserting the phrase 'you know' into your sentences. It adds no value grammatically and if I didn't know, I'd say so." Her wit, verve, and the effort she put forth, will be remembered by us all. Thank you.,

Auntie June always impressed with her energy, traveling to the USA on this occasion for my sister's wedding in 2010. Thank you for not just wanting to come visit, thank you for making the effort to do so.

It is a long time since I had seen June but I remember loving going to visit her during my childhood. She was always happy, loved life and told great stories! She was an amazing character and I am sure she will be greatly missed by family and friends alike.

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the funeral but I will be thinking of the family on the day xxx

I shall miss visiting June with Helen. She was always so pleased to see us. She carried her illness with dignity and cheerfulness and was always "sorry" for putting us out - a lovely lady indeed.

I felt close to June as we shared many interests, a great love of young kids and teaching, making pots and being on stage to name a few. She had an amazing memory and could tell fantastic stories. She always showed a genuine interest in all my family and what they were up to. When my mum developed dementia and I was having a hard time coping June used to call round and she could always make my mum laugh, as she did with me through her dry humour and quick wit. I will always remember her for reawakening George's tender loving nature. I saw a side to him that I had not seen previously whilst they were together and he became much more loving towards me so that when he was dying I felt very close to him.

I was sorry when she left Poynton as I would sometimes pop into the Home and her little face would light up and she would give me a hug and a big beaming smile of welcome. She would make me a cup of tea or coffee whilst she was able, when she wasn't she would insist on the staff making me a drink or me eating a meal with her. She treated the place like her own home and she told me in lurid details what the other residents were up to! I did visit her in Yorkshire last year and although she seemed to have lost her sparkle it was good that she was so much closer to Helen and saw a lot of her and Jenny.

Thank you June for being my friend

I will always remember staying at her lovely house, as well as seeing her at Xmas time and family celebrations with my mum and dad. She was always fun and had a big smile on her face. She will be sadly missed.
