Much loved Mother and Grandmother

Michelle Daniel donated £215 in memory of Dorothy

A big thank you to everyone who attended Dorothy's funeral and to all those who gave beautiful flowers and made donations to the Alzheimers Society in her name. She would have loved the send off, enjoyed the flowers and appreciated the donations. All your cards, kind words and support to Mum, myself and Rob have been much appreciated.

Together we have raised over £500 including gift aid for the Alzheimers Society, to help them find a cure and support those dealing with this cruel disease. Thank you all xx

Dearest Dorothy, it is so sad that you are no longer with us, you were one of the most beautiful people we had the pleasure of knowing and we are proud to have called you our family. You are no longer in pain and you are at peace and that is the only comfort we have now that your gone. You will be missed very much, never forgotten and will always in our hearts. All our love Gemma, Lucy, Katie and Oliver xxx

We make this donation in memory of a wonderful Mum and Nan who gave us love, support and many laughs over the years. You dealt with your Alzheimers in your normal quiet way and coped extremely well. But we saw how sad, frustrated and helpless you felt with it at times. We hope this will help find a cure to stop others suffering from this cruel disease. With our love always Freda & Michelle XX

Unlike the rest of the family I was a late-comer into Doll's life when I met and eventually married her granddaughter Michelle. However, we became firm friends and saw each other regularly and had plenty of laughs. One memory was when Doll was staying with us for a few weeks while her flooded flat was being repaired. Every day I would come home from work and she'd be sitting there, reading and doing word puzzles, and everyday I would say 'Have you finished the housework yet?' and she'd laugh and say 'Clear off you, I'm a guest!'. I couldn't wind her up, she always saw through me.

Despite the Alzheimer's symptoms, which hardly affected her, apart from her memory, she remained a quiet but determined lady and never lost her sense of humour nor the ability to enjoy a joke.

I want to add a note of respect to Michelle and Freda, who never gave up and battled tirelesly on Doll's behalf, against beurocracy and the disease, to ensure she remained independent for as long as possible.

Doll is dearly messed by us all, and hardly a moment passes whithout us thinking fondly of her. xXx

Fond memories of times spent with Auntie Doll. As a child I stayed with her often and loved her roast dinners. Spending time on holiday in Australia with her was such a pleasure. I loved our chats about her childhood and how she met her husband Fred. We loved looking at old photos together and reminiscing about good times.
She will always be remembered with love and affection. Rest in Peace Auntie Doll xxxxx

My lovely Auntie Doll who taught me many things. Her guiding hands showed me how to peel potatoes without any waste ensuring that the skin removed was paper thin. This makes me smile even today as I prepare my spuds. She taught me importance of hand washing and drying up your dishes thoroughly. Little things maybe but things that stick in your mind forever. Good mannners were always expected and the ability to laugh even when things were not so good. Taking time to chat and share memories was a favourite pastime of hers. Auntie Doll was loving caring and great to be with. Growing up in her presence was a privilege and she will be very much missed but never forgotten. Love you always
