In loving memory of Frederick George Wiltshire who sadly passed away on 27th December 2015.
Fred was born at St. Margaret's Hospital, Epping on 24th September 1938 and named after his father Frederick George Wiltshire.
Home was in Underwood Road in Chingford and he spent many long days playing in the woods that backed onto the house or Larkswood Open Air swimming pool.
Fred attended Larkswood School in Chingford.
He joined the Grenadier Guards in 1957 as part of his national service and thoroughly enjoyed his two years, apart from the 14 days that he spent locked up after falling asleep on duty!
Upon leaving the Army he joined the Halex factory, situated on Larkshall Road and was a major local employer producing a variety of goods mostly from plastic. Fred met his sweetheart Jean Shirley Edna Smith in 1961 whilst working at the Halex.
Fred was a keen swimmer and played both water polo and rugby for Chingford Rugby Club. Fred broke his hand whilst playing rugby and he was being paid more in sick benefits that his normal pay and had enough money saved to get engaged.
Fred and Jean were married on 28th September 1963 at St. Anne's Church, Chingford.
They then set up home at 26 Osborne Court, Capworth Street, Leyton and Fred started work at the Cork Manufacturing Company in Chingford.
Fred and Jean had a son, Guy, on 13th June 1966, followed by a daughter Kellie on 12th April 1970.
When the Cork Manufacturing Company closed, Fred joined Forest School as a Maintenance engineer and worked his way up to head of maintenance before retiring in 2008 at the age of 70.
In recent years Fred has liked nothing more than looking after and enjoying the company of his three Granddaughter's, Megan, Lauren and Lucy.
He will be greatly missed by all.
