In Loving Memory of Ray Ricardo
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ray Ricardo on the evening of March 24th, 2025, at the age of 74. Ray passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, who provided him comfort in his final hours.

Ray was known for his humour, wit, and loyalty—whether it was his infamous bad jokes or his dedication to his barbershop customers. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, and joyful memories.

We invite all family, friends, and customers to share their photos, stories, and memories of Ray, as we celebrate his life and all the good times we shared.

The funeral will take place on Friday, April 25th, at 10:00 am at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium. Ray would have wanted us all to embrace vibrancy and colour, so please dress in a way that reflects his spirit—no need for black.

He will be within chapel of rest, Thursday, April 24th, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at Tamworth Co-operative Funeral Service (The Mews, Upper Gungate, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B79 7NZ) for those who wish to say their final goodbyes.

Following the service, we would like to invite you to join us for a toast to Ray at The Bolehall Manor Club (The Bolehall Manor Club, Amington Road, Bolehall, Tamworth, Staffordshire, B77 3LH, room booked for 11am onwards). We would love to chat, share stories, and honour him with a good and happy get-together, just as he would have wanted.

In this difficult time, we ask that you remember Ray with joy, celebrating the positivity and laughter he brought into our lives.

Thank you all for your kind words, stories and support through this difficult time.
With love,
Aimee & Philip, his daughter and son

It’s not just me who will miss Ray. I’d say to my dog Honey, “haircut with Ray” Honey ran round the house barking and pulling at her lead, Honey loved Ray and he always welcomed us both. Cut my hair for as long as I can remember, always with a smile and some great jokes. Getting my hair cut will never be the same without Ray. RIP.

Every now and again life just presents us with real gems, characters, people who shine bright and leave a lasting impression on anyone they meet, Ray was definitely one of life's true gems.

As a customer of his for over 20 years, you never just went there for a haircut. As soon as you walked in there was the banter, a beer out of his fridge, showing me the latest DIY project or whatever he'd bought to repair and up cycle, the dodgy dvds, his karaoke machine, playing ball with Roly and the god awful jokes I still repeat to anyone I meet to this day.

His love for his family, his dogs, his friends, the curry house, his holidays and his loyalty to his customers was nothing short of inspirational. The phrase 'One of a kind' is often banded about way too easily, but it couldn't be more fitting when it came to Ray. He lived life to the full and approached everything he did with vigour, enthusiasm, passion but most of all, a sense of fun.

Of course his loss will be most felt by his friends and family, but the community of Hall Green has lost one of its own too.

What a sad loss, what a character, what a man. You'll be sorely missed Ray.

I’m so deeply saddened to learn of Rays passing. I knew him as a customer and a friend for over 35 years since he first opened in Hall Green.

He became a real mate and someone that would listen and listen when you were having a bad day and his advice was always spot on.

His jokes were terrible, but you still laughed because you knew every punchline and he created a wonderful atmosphere in his shop that resulted in the place being the ‘go to’ for so many.

He was a firm favourite among the Hall Green lads during the 90’s and 00’s and he will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.

My condolences go out to you Aimee and Philip. Your Dad spoke about you both often and with great pride. Take comfort that he was well respected and missed by many.

Farewell Ray and RIP mate.
