In loving memory of Mary Alice Wood who sadly passed away on 23rd December 2015
Mum enjoyed a long and fruitful life. She loved her family, her friends, her house and her community. The last year was an umcomfortable one in terms of physical health. She recieved amazing support from those around her. Mum dies peacefully in her sleep at Queen's Hospital Burton on Trent in the early hours of Wednesday December 23rd.

Your mum was a lovely lady and I remember that on the few occasions that I met her she was always great fun and had a lovely smile(& laugh!) A fine way to remember someone, I think. Much love to you, Jan xx
Dear Dawn, I will be thinking of you on 11th January. I met Mary a few years ago on a very cold Derbyshire wintry night. We had a lovely dinner at your house and then we all set off to drive several miles through the snow to the Circle Dance group. I was so struck by her enthusiasm for life and willingness to join in and have a go at something new and different to her, and her general openness and friendliness. A sad loss indeed. I have many happy memories of my one time mum-in-law. I only met her on a few occasions in the later years but was always amazed at how fully she continued to enjoy life without her beloved Arthur. A very special lady with hidden strengths.
Dear Dawn, I met your Mum a couple of times and what I remember most was her smile, just like in the photo on this page. You and Jim and her other nearest and dearest will miss her. However your tales of your Mum's exploits and travels tell me that she had a full, interesting and enjoyable life and like you rarely stayed still for long. xx
I met your Mary Alice, your mum, on just one occasion. She was standing in your kitchen here at Forge Bank and I called to drop off something with you. She stood beside you as we spoke. We said hello to one another. I left with a very powerful sense of a strong, independent and youthful presence. It stayed with me for a while. I feel very fortunate to have met her.
