In loving memory of Rita Mary Farrell who sadly passed away aged 92 on 14th February 2025.

Born on 22nd January 1933 in Springwell, County Durham. A loving wife, mother and grandma who will be greatly missed by her family and by people far and wide. An incredibly sociable lady who thoroughly enjoyed people, who would go out of her way to help anyone, truly the definition of a ‘people person’.

Rita, you will live in our hearts forever…

Janet and Malcolm Pegg donated £50 in memory of Rita

In loving memory of our friend Rita: who lived life to the full and made friends everywhere. We will remember Rita and think of her together again with John. Rest in peace. All our love, Janet and Malcolm.

Dear Rita,
Thank you for being such a lovely friend over many years, and for your kindness and generosity. You and John, with your warmth and interest in others, had a wonderful way of making other people feel special and appreciated, which meant so much to us all. Rest peacefully.
Much love xxx

I first met Rita through her daughter Dawn when we worked together in the 80’s at Habitat and she became a second ‘Mum’ to me particularly after my own passed.
I have wonderful memories of dinners at The Mill, days out in Rye, gardening and walks on the beach, swimming in the sea and coffee on her and John’s balcony at Greatstones. She was a lovely friend whose memory I treasure. Sleep well Rita

My husband Bob and I have known Rita for over 70 years. I met Rita while working at Negretti and Zambra in Regent Street in their office on administrative tasks. Her husband John was also employed at that same time and it was there that they first met. The four of us became close friends and subsequently spent many years visiting each others homes where into the early hours we played rummy but not for money just eating and drinking, laughing, joking and enjoying ourselves. We also holidayed both overseas, visiting her daughter in Thailand, and in various places in the UK. As a result of Covid-19 our meetings were limited to long telephone calls as personal meetings were restricted. We shall miss Rita but to help to some degree have many photographs to rekindle our thoughts. We remember all those happy memories together and feel great sorrow for Dawn, Victoria, Phoebe and Amy. It must leave a great hole in their lives.

Rita, she was my second mummy. I lived next door to Rita and John for many years and spent more time at their house playing with Vickie than my own! We had wonderful holidays all together. So many fond memories.

I have known Rita for thirty two years, first as my neighbour and then as my friend. As time and circumstances changed, we spent more and more time chatting over coffee or on the phone and enjoying our weekly lunch at Ham Street Garden Centre. Her kindness, wisdom and good humour made her popular with everybody. I particularly appreciate the support she gave after my wife’s passing aa well as the much-needed advice on horticultural matters. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my friend but the memories of Rita will always bring a smile to my face. Rita touched our lives and we are all the better for it. The world has lost a truly wonderful person.

Rita.
Thank you for being our neighbour, friend and second Nanny! We all have such fond memories of sending time with you and you becoming part of our family. Owen, Elle and Joey talk about enjoying the time spent learning to paint, sharing your early memories for school projects and enjoying cupa of teas, occasional baileys and kit kats!!
You will live on in our memories and our hearts, always.
Love Bec, Kev, Owen, Elle and Joey (Thunder feet you would always call Joey) xxxx
