Hilary was such a positive, bright and witty lady with a great sense of humour. She never grumbled about any difficulties she may have had despite her loss of sight. It was always a pleasure to chat and reminisce about our camping holidays together, where Hilary reminded me of all the little details which I had long forgotten. I will miss our lovely chats, she was a very special person.

Hilary qualified as a physiotherapist in 1959 : an achievement all the more impressive as she had been registered blind since 1952. She spent 27 at Geoff Hodges hospital specializing in geriatrics.
