Proprietor of Bayleys Printing Company , joined the company as a 16 yr old in April 1945, he started as a Representative eventually gaining ownership in the 80s finally retiring at the grand age of 84.
Co-founder in 1957 of Ipswich and District Youth Football league and then in 2002 he helped start another league for girls to play football Suffolk Girls Football League where he was Vice President it’s difficult to imagine the amount of voluntary help and support David gave to many thousands of young people in this area.
Also given much time to other bodies, he was President of the Ipswich Sea-Cadets, NABC, Friends of Christchurch Park -Compare for“Brass on the Grass” and President of Achilles FC, Friend of Wantisden Church and fundraiser - “Cycle ride for Churches”, he served all until not long ago. There has been many more in which he gave his time, all voluntary! He is definitely one of life’s unsung hero’s.
A friend to all, he had a tale to tell with that twinkle in his eye, such a knowledgeable man and so very interesting.
He was known and loved by so many , he will be greatly missed.

Very sorry to hear of David's death. We tended to meet each other in the street, just passing, but he always had time for a brief chat, and indeed he always had a twinkle in his eye. Decent bloke.

Dearest David, This is a huge loss for all who knew you and a shame that those who hadn't, won't get the chance. You leave behind so many friends. Your years of selfless dedication to the organisations you supported are an example of your kind and supportive nature. You had the most incredible memory and the stories of your life and experiences were legendary often shared with a smile, ending in laughter. You were one of a kind. Thank you David. I hope you knew how loved you were. with love Jessica, Morgan and Thalia
