In loving memory of Dr Michael Kellaway-Marriott who sadly passed away on 11th February 2025.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend, Mike Kellaway-Marriott at the age of 83. He passed away suddenly at his home in Taunton.

Mike was born in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire and was an only child. In his early life, he moved around eventually settling in London. He immigrated to Venezuela in the 1980s and began his new life in Caracas, later moving to Maracaibo.

He graduated as an engineer in 1963 and went on to obtain a doctorate in History later in life. He was very dedicated to his working roles; during his career as an engineer he helped build the Caracas underground and managed engineers throughout Venezuela for various oil projects. He later became an entrepreneur and started his own business.

He returned to England in 1999 with his family and settled in Weston-super-Mare. During his time there, he took great interest in local politics and was a Councillor for North Somerset Council and the Town Council, later becoming Mayor in 2010. He contributed greatly to the local community, charities and individuals.

Mike was the driving force of the family. He was well known for his distinct personality and long conversations. He took an interest in everyone he met and was a big support to all his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

Tribute to Dr. Michael Kellaway-Marriott

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Mike, a cherished friend of NIDA since its early days in 2009-2010.

Mike’s kindness, generosity, and unwavering support were truly remarkable. He often went out of his way to provide transport from Weston-Super-Mare, ensuring that many could take part in NIDA’s dance sessions. His dedication extended far beyond NIDA, as he played a vital role in organizing joint charity events between NIDA, the BME Network, NSFCCF, and other social organizations, fostering a spirit of unity and community service.

I have uploaded a collection of photos taken between 2010 and 2020, capturing some of the special moments when Mike participated in various charity events.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Carmela and her family. Mike’s warmth, generosity, and tireless dedication to the community will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and service will forever be remembered.

Rest in peace, Mike.
