In loving memory of Jon Rigby who sadly passed away on 30th January 2025
Tragically and suddenly, in a road traffic collision on Thursday 30th January, our worlds were ripped apart. The heart of our family was so cruelly taken from us.
Jon was the love of my life and my best friend of 27 years. He was the best dad, grandad, son and friend to many. His infectious laugh would resonate in any room, he loved his family so much and would do anything for me and his children, our daughter Madeline had just qualified as a dive master and was ready to start her new career in Costa Rica and was there when he was taken, he would be heartbroken that she had to return home on her own in these circumstances, but would and will be encouraging her to return when she feels able. Jon was always there for our older boys, ever the handyman he loved teaching them skills and giving advice whenever he was asked. To have been taken away in these circumstances, doing something that he loved, and just going to work has destroyed our family. He can never be replaced and will never be forgotten.
Jon was a music-loving, healthy, devoted and active man. We went to many festivals and concerts, and loved walking in the hills, we loved being out on the bike, and took part in Dave day last year riding to Barrow and had plans to go again this year, I don’t know what I am going to do without him.
We had recently moved to Anglesey to live out our dreams. This is now no longer a possibility.
As a family, we need time to grieve the man we have lost and the future we now no longer be able to have.
We are hoping for a bike escort to accompany him on his final journey from Deighan’s Funeral Home in Horwich, on Thurs 20th Feb, We will be leaving there at 11am for his service at 12pm at the West Chapel Overdale.
After the service we will be going to The Robin Hood in Leigh WN7 3PA to raise a pint for Jon :)
Thank you Jane and family x
