His humour, his smile, his warmth, and his boundless love are the treasures I think of when I remember my lovely brother Michael.

Michael had a way of turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. Anywhere he went, a story would emerge. From sharing railway tales with a young guard all the way to Dover, to a chance conversation in Broadstairs that revealed surprising connections, and even spending an hour chatting with a stranger on a park bench—Michael had the rare gift of making every encounter meaningful. His natural curiosity and charm made him a storyteller and a friend to all.

As a big brother, Michael was both a protector and a prankster. He ensured that his siblings, Tony and I, were loved and cared for, but he also made sure to keep life fun and full of laughter. For example the time he wrapped himself in bandages, doused in tomato sauce, just to get a reaction and a laugh? His playful spirit was infectious, reminding us to find joy in the little things.

We will all hold onto the smiles he gave us and the warmth he instilled in our hearts as we cherish the stories, the laughter, and the love he shared so freely. Michael had a gift for making the world brighter. Michael’s generosity of character and desire to make people smile was exceptional. Everyone that knew him will remember him with a smile on their face and warmth in their heart – what a fantastic gift!

Mick was just a super guy to work with.I transferred to Gillingham in 1990 about 6 years before Mick retired from driving trains.
He would tell some wonderful nostalgia stories from the days he started in the 50's.Always a pleasure to listen to his fun memories .A real character of a man and had a warmth and kindness he conveyed to others.
Going to be sadly missed by all his ex footplate colleagues ,but will always be fondly remembered and never forgotten.

Well what can i say Mick Bruce doesn't that say everything in a railway mans family, I myself have never experienced so much fun and laughter at work. You only had to look at him and he would throw his voice and you would be searching everywhere for the person and Mick would be standing there laughing. We had some great times working together on the coal train at Bettshanger. What a time we had. I will miss the fun we had,the joy he gave to everyone. Mick and Tony were some great work friends and admired by us forever. Never be forgotten.

We were lucky enough to have this amazing man as our neighbour, he was a true gentleman, humorous and kind. We loved him to bits and have many memories. The one that will always stay with me is him going up a ladder with a helium balloon tied to his belt laughing at me as I told him not to be going up ladders at his age!
He is very much missed, both him and Sheila made us welcome from day one and I truly believe they are reunited. Love from the Norton Family.

Dad.
The epitome of all kind, loving, compassionate, witty, funny and proud "English Gentlemen" from a generation that we should all want to aspire to and want to emulate.
He was the greatest role model, teacher and mentor of all things good in this messed up world.
If I could be remembered for being half the person he was, then I know I would of achieved greatness.
Gonna miss your warm smile but will always be grateful and proud that I'm your son.
Keep the heavenly train running on time and please...
and no more derailment and endless reprimands. 😉😘❤
