Peter and I began our Headships in the Uttoxeter area on the same day, he at Thomas Alleyne's High School and I at one of the feeder Middle Schools, Ryecroft. With both being Welsh and having the same surname, there was ample opportunity for banter and mischief which Peter thoroughly enjoyed. He was an invaluable mentor to me and I am grateful for his kindness and friendship. Rest in Peace, Peter.

Two of our daughters were very privileged to be at Thomas Alleynes School at the same time as Peter; he was an amazing Head Teacher. Tim also encountered him on the hockey field and they shared a drink (or two?) in the bar after the game. We had a couple of hilarious visits abroad with him and Marian and we never stopped laughing. The highlight of our singing tour to the battlefields of the Somme was Peter's rich Welsh voice singing - all by himself - the most moving rendition of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau. Never forgotten.

An amazing neighbour who loved to play golf with my husband and usually won!! Very sociable and an excellent raconteur who we shared many happy social occasions with over our 30 years of living accross the road from each other. What a sad lossl Much love always Carol and Hugh

Peter was a most wonderful Headmaster to work for at Thomas Alleynes. We were all made to feel valued and part of a team/family doing our best for our students. A lovely true 'people person'. He showed a keen interest in the p.e. department and often thanked us for our contribution to extra curricular activities. A real gentleman.

Peter's memory will live on for a long time in the Singers. He spontaneously sang the Welsh national anthem, on his own, at the Mametz Wood memorial during one of the choir's tours there. The memorial commemorated the Welsh Fusiliers who died there during the battle of the Somme.

Everyone who heard it was deeply mmoved by the heartfelt performance and will never forget it.

Peter appointed me to my first Deputy Head role at Thomas Alleynes. In my career I worked in five different schools and he was the best Head I ever worked for. He was an excellent role model and he and Marian became good friends.

I first met Peter when we both sang with the Marchington Singers, from 2018. He had a fine tenor voice to my baritone. I remember fondly the time we spent together learning 'O deued pob Cristion' well enough to sing it together at a concert, without embarrassment.

What started as two people with complementary voices and the same nationality developed into an easy friendship with lots of chat, shared opinions and tea. I shall miss him.

I think I have the honour of being the first teacher to be be appointed by Peter after he was made Head at Thomas Alleyne's, whilst he was the third Head Teacher I had worked for he was the the first I felt able to interact with as a fellow human being. He was tremendously supportive when I was setting up the school farm and created a lovely atmosphere at TAHS where we all all felt appreciated.
