So many years have passed since we last met, but the memories are still strong. RIP Pat.

SAD NEWS
I am saddened to have to tell you that my beloved mother passed away peacefully on 19th December 2015 whilst I was by her side (as I had been every day) at the Queens Medical Centre (hospital) in Nottingham.
She was admitted (as you know) back on the 13th November with pneumonia, septicaemia and a UTI - the first two of which are seriously life threatening.
The sad thing is that my mother (a feisty old gal) was responding well to treatment, fighting really well and was well on the road to recovery, but……….
Due to the original pneumonia she was being fed through what's called an NG tube (a nasal gastric tube).
Her Parkinson’s, which she has had for in excess of fifteen (15) years now, amongst other things, affects the performance of the oesophagus (in your throat) and regrettably she “aspirated”.
This gave her bronchial pneumonia in the lung which was not originally effected, and she unfortunately did not have enough inner strength left in her to fight it.
It got her in the end.
At least she is now at peace and can maybe meet up with her late husband (my dad) who passed away back in 1966 at the young age of 39.
My mother did not have many of her lifelong friends left alive, but she sure touched the hearts of many, especially in recent years when she regularly attended a daycentre and was assisted by several care workers – most notably, Geraldine Dunne who I am convinced, helped to prolong my mother’s life.
She will be sadly missed.
