With heartfelt joy and a sense of true resilience, we celebrate the remarkable life of Sue Sawyer, born Pamela Susanne Chipperfield, who was called home on January 1, 2025. Born on August 12, 1950 in Nottingham, England. Sue was a spirited soul who lived her life with a contagious sense of humor that brightened the lives of all who knew her.

Sue was a woman of many talents. She spent her early years working as a machinist in the famous Nottingham Lace Factory. Later, she immigrated to the United States, where she made her home in Tacoma, Washington, and began a fulfilling career in housekeeping. She dedicated over 20 years of loyal service to Pacific Lutheran University before her well-earned retirement in 2024. Beyond her professional life, Sue was an avid crafter, channeling her creativity into projects that brought joy to both herself and others.

Sue's love for her family was paramount. She was a beacon of strength, demonstrating unwavering loyalty to her loved ones. She is survived by her sons, Chris and Adrian, her grandsons, Jayce and Psalms, her siblings Henry John Baker Chipperfield, Marlene Chipperfield-McCubbin and Daphne “Patricia” (Chipperfield) Hart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clarice “Hilary” Chipperfield.

In the words of the Bible, which Sue held dear, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go" (Joshua 1:9). Sue embodied these words in her daily life, and they serve as a reminder of her resilient spirit.

Flowers may be sent to C Terry Funeral Services, 244 Bulwell High Road, Bulwell, Nottingham, NG6 8NU.
