Geoff was born in Crewe in 1956 . He joined the Army in 1974 and carried out his officer training at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Once qualified he did a tour in Northern Ireland with the Gordon Highlanders and this inspired him to join the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and train to be an Ammunition Technical Officer. He did a bomb disposal tour in Northern Ireland and various different posting until he left the Army in 1994. He became a Trials Officer at the P&EE Shoeburyness firing ranges, and made Shoeburyness his home. He met Pauline in 1995, they became a couple in 1998 and married in 2012. He retired from work in 2021 due to ill health, and settled down to enjoy his model railway engineering, some travel, days out and eating out, his garden and his cat Felix

A huge loss. I have fond memories of his booming laughter echoing down the corridors of B1. RIP Geoff.

I will never forget your passion and enthusiasm for blowing things up and setting fire to things, but with such finesse! I like to think I carried on that ethos…A great man has passed.
