It is with the greatest sadness that we say farewell to a truly wonderful man. Dave slipped away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of December 27th.
Family was everything to Dave.
He met the love of his life Eileen aged just 21 on a night out in Southend-on-Sea at The London Pub back in 1963. The romance blossomed at a pace and they were married just a year later. Their love and devotion stood the test of time, they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary just a few months back in October 2024. Some love lasts a lifetime, true love lasts forever.
Dave was a devoted dad in every sense of the word. He shared the love of fishing with his sons Shane and Carl and was proud to spend many a day aboard their boat at sea. His love and support was never ending for his daughters Tracy and Janine. He was always there to listen, guide and comfort with a safe embrace.
His grandchildren were 'the cherry on his cake'. Madison, Sam, Dexter, Ben, Joe, Alex, Scarlett and Amy enjoyed a special bond and he never missed an opportunity to tell them "Grandad loves you big lots!"
Dave wore his heart on his sleeve. Although his exterior may have appeared tough, he really was a big old softy, never afraid to show his feelings and spread his love amongst his nearest and dearest. Grief is the price you pay for love, his love for his family was immeasurable and the price we must pay is great.
Dave was always thinking of others and had a strong sense of duty to help those he could. This led him into fundraising for causes that touched his heart. Therefore we ask that any donations are in support of Cancer Research so that someday others may benefit.
Our hearts break as we learn to live without him, but we are eternally grateful for the love he gave and the memories he left us to cherish.
The Family x
