We do miss you, Peter. You have been a great encouragement to us. Your love for the Lord, your commitment to global mission and your biblical reflection on mission, and your love for colleagues are exemplary. Thank you for your friendship. The bookmark you gave me is still in my Bible. I will treasure it. Patrick and Jennie

Even though our time knowing Peter was brief, we had the chance to know a man who pondered deeply, sought to encourage others even in his own adversity, and walked closely with the Lord. We grew to admire His resolve to honour God to the very end.

Our hearts remain with you Christine and his beloved family as you grieve this huge loss. May His comfort surround you as you remember he is now with the Lord he loves.

Thanking God for a beloved brother in Christ, of whom I became so fond of in recent years. I will be forever thankful for his cheerful defiance and faithful service in the gospel.

Peter was one of the best leaders we've served with, and one of the best men we've known. He was approachable and available, full of wisdom and grace. Peter was never afraid to ask the difficult questions or offer a different view – and he somehow managed to do so without offending or alienating others!

Truly a man for all seasons, Peter was equally at home preaching or listening, leading or encouraging, talking about mission or analysing the football over a curry and a beer. Through all the seasons of his life, Peter used his personality, gifts, intellect and sense of humour for God’s glory, and we will miss him greatly. He and Christine walked with us through one of our most challenging seasons, for which we will always be deeply grateful.

On one of his visits to Singapore, Peter introduced us to the Sovereign Grace song, ‘Behold Our God’, and it immediately became a favourite. Peter’s life and service always pointed to Jesus, helping us to adore Him, our incomparable King. That song contains a series of questions to which we might add, in relation to Peter being called home, ‘Why, Lord?’ And whilst we won’t know the answer until we join him, we do know this: Peter is now beholding and adoring his God, Lord and King.

Christine, Gabrielle & Sam, Yasmin & Lorenzo, Luke, Jude, and May, we weep with you and mourn with you, praying that you will know the close embrace of the Father of compassion and the healing touch of the God of all comfort.

Dave & Fi Rickards
