Trevor Ward, born on 7th March 1947, in Bramcote, passed away peacefully on 2nd December 2024, at the age of 77. Trevor lived a full and varied life, residing primarily in Derbyshire and Devon, moving around a little to some cherished places, including Shelton Lock, Torquay, and Duffield.
He was a dedicated husband to Bernie for 47 years, having met in 1972 and marrying on 12th April 1977, at Melbourne Catholic Church. Trevor was a much-loved father to Andrew and Matthew, a guiding parent figure to Mary and Deirdre (Bernie’s younger sisters), and a proud grandfather to Lorcan, Keirnan, and Imogen. He is also survived by his sister Ros, her husband Ron, and their children Adam and Donna.
A hardworking and sensible man, Trevor’s life was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit and love for hands-on projects. From managing car seat production lines with innovative methods to running businesses ranging from shops selling sweets then onto leather goods before moving onto holiday apartments and even a hedgehog hospital and children’s farm, his determination and creativity knew no bounds.
Trevor was a man of many passions: sports in his youth, sailing, gardening, and hosting gatherings that brought his family and friends together. He found joy in simple pleasures, from a pint at the pub to weekly card games with close friends.
Trevor’s wisdom, humour, and kindness will be deeply missed. He leaves a legacy of thoughtfulness, teaching all who knew him to carefully consider life’s challenges and decisions.
The funeral will be held on 6th January 2025, followed by a wake at Vivo in Stapleford at 3.30p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to TASC (The Ambulance Staff Charity) or the League of Friends at Ilkeston Community Hospital.
