In loving memory of Robert James Blythe 'Jim' formerly of Potash Nursery died peacefully, at home in Suffolk on 19th December 2024 aged 86 years.
Dad was born in Southwold, attend Brandeston School the Framingham College. After leaving school he joined the Merchant Navy in 1958. In 1964 he left the Navy and become salesman for Silkcocks where he met our mum June. They were married in September 1965. Dad took over the running of Potash Nursery when his father in law passed away in June 1966. Several years down the line mum and dad decided to specialised in Fuchsias and began to attend the RHS Shows and several county shows. He then displayed his fuchsias at Chelsea Flower Show and in 1993 he had his picture in the Hello magazine with the queen. When he retired he was able to play more golf, help out at the Alfred Corry museum. He also attended Here4u Dementia Group which he loved. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Jim was a very special person who I had the pleasure of working with at many flower shows. We had lots of laughs especially at Hampton Court when we would be behind the stand listening to the visitors working how to take cuttings from the front fuchsias. Jim would then pop out and surprise them. I used to call him Sooty. RIP Jim you will be sorely missed. Annie and Jim Henderson

September 1948 was when I first met Jim as fresh faced 10 year olds on our first day of boarding school at Brandeston Hall. A few years later we both moved on to senior school at Framlingham College to continue our education.
During the seventy plus years our paths have frequently crossed and we remained good friends often reminiscing about the many challenges of those early school days.
Jim became a stalwart of the Society of Old Framlinghamians distinguishing himself as President, Governor and SOF Trustee for many years.
Jim had many outstanding qualities and was undoubtedly greatly respected by all those fortunate enough to have known him and had the opportunity to share and enjoy his company.
A true gentleman.

The best GG we could ask for. Always up for a drink and a laugh, even if it was at his own expense. We miss you every day, but find comfort and laughter in thinking about all our happy memories xxx

The best coffee and cake date we could ask for. The three musketeers nearly succeeded in trying all the cafés in Suffolk!

Dear Dad, I miss you every day, you were my rock, my best friend and the kindest man in the world. It was a privilege to look after you in the last few weeks and if you were in pain you always remained cheerful. You have left a huge hole in my heart. Love you always and forever until we meet again. Xxxx
