It is with the saddest heart that I write about my hero, my sole mate, Kevin Green born 13/09/1953 died 15/12/2024 aged 71.
Kevin and I met in 1988 when he joined a group I attended called Gingerbread. We had both been married before I had been left with 3 children under 3 and Kevin had 2 under 8. He asked me to marry him within 2 weeks of dating. We got engaged within 2 months and married the following year. We then went on to have 2 more children and Kevin accepted my 3 as his own.
Between our children we have 12 beautiful grandchildren.
Our fondest memories were seeing 6 out of the 7 happy married and our eldest grandson who got married just 2 months before he passed and we all attended the Rhodes wedding. Also our annual family trips to Pontins where we enjoyed the most fun times with the kids growing up and then the grandchildren, sometimes as many as 30 would attend, until it closed.
Kevin’s hobbies were his fishing, his darts where he played for the old rectory team in leybourne and building his kit cars, were the latest remains unfinished.
Our biggest yearly event was our Christmas lights display which we collected for cancer research in the latter 10 years, Kevin would dress as Father Christmas for the event and this year was to be his final year due to his own terminal cancer diagnosis. The whole community came together to celebrate with him. The local choir and larkfield fire station attended. Local residents and friends donated money for the firework display and added lights and electrical equipment to help make this the biggest to date. Currently we have raised raised over £4000 which he would be extremely proud of.
He died at home surrounded by family and his final journey will be on 17th January at 2pm at the Medway crematorium, should anyone who knew him wish to attend, they will be more than welcome.
He will be sadly missed by anyone’s heart he touched.
His loving wife Pat
