In loving memory of Gwyneth Hayward, wife of the late Godfrey Hayward, much loved and adored mother, nana, aunt and friend to many who sadly passed away on 23rd November 2024, aged 80 years.

Gwyneth grew up in Twydall and later spent many years as the owner/ manager of The West End hair salon where she became a well known and respected member of the community.

After a short spell of caring in the community Gwyneth established Clairmont Residential Home, a home committed to meeting the needs of its residents. Gwyneth was a great boss to her staff as well as a compassionate carer to residents and their families.

Family was very important to Gwyneth. She was very proud of Sarah, Simon & Emma and absolutely loved being a nana to Ciara. She had a lovely relationship with her step grandson Jake and enjoyed regular visits from her nephew and nieces who she loved dearly.

Gwyneth was a great and loyal friend and enjoyed many a social gathering over the years. She will be sadly missed by many.

Gwyneth’s cremation service is to be held at Medway Crematorium, Blue Bell Hill, on Monday 6th January 2025 at 1 pm with a celebration of her life afterwards at Gillingham Golf Club.

Family floral tributes may be sent by 11.00 am on Monday 6th January 2025, c/o John Weir Funeral Directors, 130-132 High Street, Rainham, Kent, ME8 8AR. Telephone No: 01634 373111.

Gwynny
My dearest aunty Gwynny, you were always such a huge part of my life that I know the void you’ve left will never be completely filled. You have been my aunt, my friend and my ‘stand in’ mum. You have been there for me whenever I needed you with advice, care love and sometimes just hard facts. You loved me and my children and we loved you on return.
Your wealth of knowledge always overwhelmed me, you knew so much, I had no doubt when I called you that you’d know the answer to any question I may have had. I’ll always remember our family get togethers on Boxing Day that meant so much to me as I was growing up. Fun, dancing, singing and card games. Everyone enjoying themselves. You were a fantastic host. I have to try and you for your love of Boxer dogs which made such an important act on my life that I have been lucky enough to have had two of my own. Oh how Daisy and Jasper loved visiting their Aunty Gwynny, only you could buy the dogs their own digestives…so much so I couldn’t walk the dogs along Woodside without being pulled into the drive!
I have so many happy memories of you that I will treasure forever. I was so blessed to have the best aunty. I will miss you terribly for always but take some comfort that you’re with your sister again. All my love Susie
