It is very sad to hear the news of Gaye Lye’s passing. We worked together in 1989. Gaye was a superb manager,. Her style of managing was exceptional, she stood strong for her team and spoke up against poor management decisions within Nottingham City Council.
Gaye treated everyone as equal and was always approachable.
One of the BEST managers NCC ever had.

Gaye, you were a true Lioness and I have learned so much from you.
To this day, I still think about Gaye and will be missed but never forgotten.

  • Dear Karen, thank you so much for taking the time to write your remembrance of my mum and for attending her funeral. Your comments and your presence at the funeral means a great deal to me and the whole family. I've shared what you've written with her grandchildren to give them some insight into Gaye as a colleague and friend and I'm so grateful that you have made this possible. She was a true Lioness! With many thanks & warmest wishes, Claire

This is so sad to hear about. Gaye was my first ever “boss” or supervisor when I worked at Nottingham City Council, starting in July 1989. All I can say is she was so lovely and such a hard worker and a great teacher, I learned a great deal from Gaye and like to think she helped me along my career path being the first person in my life to look up to at work. I have wondered in the years since I left the Council how she must have been getting on. This is a sad loss. I’m so glad a previous colleague of mine sent me this to give me a chance to say what I feel about Gaye.

  • Dear Paul, thank you very much for sharing your memories of Gaye, my lovely mum. I appreciate you taking the time to do this and I've shared your comments with the whole family. I know how hard she worked in her role at Nottingham City Council. It was very important to her to do a good job, treat people fairly and ensure the process of accessing housing benefits was as efficient and fair as possible. With many thanks, Claire
