Moya opened her home and heart to me in the late 1980’s , it was a busy happy home with Lyndie and Thalia growing up fast and a lot of pets I seem to remember.
I gave birth to my daughter Emma shortly after. Moya stood quietly back and let me be the mother I needed to be, while always ready to have cuddles and fun with her when the opportunity arose, along with the girls.
We celebrated Emma’s Christening a short few months later, with my family and friends being welcomed into her lovely home to celebrate.
Although we were supposed to move out when Moya moved to Tadworth, she very generously asked us to move with them. Eight very happy years later and after so many wise words, much motherly advice and many, many memories, we were able to move into a place of our own.
Emma was most disgruntled that Lyndie , Thalia and the numerous pets were not coming with us.
Where would we have been without dear Moya, her ready smile, spirituality and calm manner in any crisis.
She played such a significant role in our lives, she will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed.

It was such a joyous occasion when our son Guy married dearest Lyndie on May 29th 2011.

Our two families became joined by this special bond and we have felt privileged to have shared so many heartwarming and treasured occasions with Moya, her children and grandchildren.

It has been such a happy and cherished journey and Moya has been a source of fun and wisdom to us all.

Moya was a very significant figure for me growing up. From family parties, to all sorts of holiday adventures, I will remember the fun, the games, the quizzes and the laughter. She always made time for me, as I know she did for so many others lucky enough to know her.
I will be thinking of Moya, Thalia, Lyndie and your families on 16th December.

I didn't know Moya for very long - only from the time I came to stay with my sister, Trish, and the Home Group kindly included me. Moya was so welcoming, and I felt completely at ease with her. She had a gift for relating to people. Almost at once we started talking about drama, and her enthusiasm was unmistakable. At one of the Home Groups we tried a bit of improvised drama. Moya slipped effortlessly into her role, and stayed in character with startling conviction. She was always open to new ideas, always interested in creativity. Kind, generous, a really special person whom I shall always remember.

Moya was a totally lovely lady, with a beautiful smile which I have really enjoyed seeing in these photos. She was kind enough to come and help me with my charity day for several years.

I am very sad that I wont be able to be with everyone on Monday, but I shall of course be thinking of you.

The more I think about the times we have spent together in the past 40 years the more I think of so many special, unique moments. Our joint friends, our close families. Sharing the happy, the sad, all the emotions and confidences. She touched so many lives and was always a loving presence in whatever situation she found herself. No surprise that so many people want to come and say their final farewells. Goodbye my lovely so special friend.

We got to know Moya when she moved to Dorking and joined St Paul’s Church and then became a loyal and much loved member of our homegroup. She brought her wisdom and deep Christian spirituality to the group along with her creativity and love of drama. Digby was also an enthusiastic participant but with a shorter attention span! We have many memories of meeting in her home and summer evenings in her lovely little garden, not to mention the odd game of Mexican Train. Moya was also part of the church pastoral team, supporting people going through difficult times. We will miss her friendship, her insight and her wonderful smile. To quote from her favourite hymn:

For each perfect gift of Thine
To our race so freely given
Graces human and divine
Flowers of earth and buds of heaven

Gracious God, to Thee we raise
This our sacrifice of praise

Moya and I did our Physiotherapy training at The Robert Jones & Agnus Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry. I was so lucky to share a flat with Moya for about a year and from then we became close friends.
Our friendship continued throughout the years even though we lived many miles apart.
When our children were young we loved visiting Moya and her family in Tadworth. Moya was a wonderful hostess and a brilliant cook. Our girls all played together well and they still have fond memories.
One of my favourite memories is when Moya decided to visit Australia after she retired. I had emigrated to Australia in 1986 and settled in Melbourne and Moya had also lived in Melbourne for 5 years when she was first married.
We went on a holiday to Tasmania and travelled there on the Spirit of Tasmania ship because I could take my car. This gave us the freedom to explore. It was the best holiday that 2 retired ladies could reconnect and talk, non stop, about the fun times we had enjoyed together.

I know Moya’s faith has supported her through the years and I’m so happy that she is now at peace. She leaves behind her 2 wonderful daughters, Thalia and Lyndie and her adoring grandchildren.

Thank you, Moya, for all the wonderful times we’ve had together. These are definitely my memories to treasure.

Love to the family at this difficult time
From Vanda, John, Jayne, Sadie and Lucy
