In loving memory of Peter Hanson who sadly passed away on 15th November 2024 at the age of 75.

Much loved husband of Nikki, devoted father of Samantha and Tracey, and Grandad Steam to Alexis and Louie.

The only floral tribute on top of the coffin will be from Nikki, Samantha and Tracey.

Donations in Pete's memory will go to Ingfield Light Railway and/or Hayward House. Ingfield is a privately run steam railway in the grounds of a school for children with additional needs, and Pete loved the days that he spent there. Hayward House is the Nottingham City Hospital hospice centre that looked after Pete towards the end and supported him in coming home for his final days. Donations can be made via this website, directly online or through a cash donation on the day of the funeral (please indicate on the envelope if you have a preference as to which charity your money would go to).

The wake will be held at The Cadland pub in Beeston, where he spent many a happy hour, from 1430 onwards; relatives and friends are invited to attend but, due to limited capacity, we would appreciate you letting us know if you would like to do so.

Peter
When I think of my cousin Peter, I remember being very proud that I had a policeman in my family. Someone who made it his job to protect children. He was not unlike my uncle Phil, capable, practical, matter of fact with a wry sense of humour. He definitely made his mark and I will miss him very much. Avis x

I first met Peter in the late 1960s when we both left school and attended Corby Tech on day release, we had both decided to be apprentice Carpenters & joiners, so started a 5 year apprentiship. During those 5 years we became the best of friends, also Peter used to come over to Uppingham and help me with carpentry work to earn a bit more money , a 40 hour week used to produce a £5 .50 top line wage less Tax ? which was not alot to keep his Mini on the road.
He was like me , we both enjoyed our Sunday diners and Molly's was one of the best I enjoyed.
In our final year at Corby Tech we both entered the A B I C C competiton our work pieces were sent to Birmingham to be judged although we did not win we were told there was only a couple of marks behind the evential national winners entry.
It was during these 5 years he got interested in the restoration of steam trains at Wansford and made the timber shuttering to cast the new boilerfire box linnings that needed to be rplaced regularly. the first few he did had to be burnt out but then he designed the shuttering so that it couuld be dismantled and used again.
He eventually joined the Local Police Force then the Met in London . Peter & Sheila became God parents to our daughter and Jean & myself god parents to their
daughter Sam . over the last few years circumstances have not allowed me to keep in touch with Peter, Nickie Tracy & Sam,as much I would of liked so I was so grateful that I was able to spend aday with him afew weeks ago to catch up old times.
How he spoke of his love and gratitude to Nickie, Tracy, Sam and his 2 grandchildren as truly unbelievable, and for me he has been atrue and couragous friend I will never forget
Rest in peace Pete
Eddie
