A sad loss. I first met Jack when we were both in Kings Cross control office. I loved his many tales. He was a great raconteur and I regret I didn't know him when he was a top link steam loco. fireman. After GN house we both went our separate ways but continued to meet up from time to time. One never knew when he would pop up and an abiding memory is when we heard his booming voice in an obscure tobacconist in Belgium during one of his visits to WW1 battlefields. A real gent. and old school railwayman gome to the great engine shed in the sky.
