Janet Mitchell (27 Aug 1933 - 7 Nov 2024)

In memory of Janet Mitchell who died on 7th November 2024, after a short illness. Janet was the adored wife of Robin to whom she was married for 65 happy years and beloved mother of Simon, Sarah and Susie and grandmother to Holly, Henry, Jack and Guy.
Janet was one of life's 'doers with an indomitable spirit. Examples include moving abroad in the late 1950s to work in Nigeria, where she first met Robin, training as a Careers Adviser for children with Special Needs and achieving a 2:1 in comparative English literature at the grand age of 82!
In retirement, moving to Goudhurst and then Matfield, Janet immersed herself in many village activities, through which she gained a wide circle of friends. Their love and affection for Janet has given so much comfort to Robin and the family during this difficult time.
Throughout her life of 91 years, Janet was guided by her deep Christian faith and led by example in always putting others before herself.
Janet's kindness, cheerfulness, sense of purpose and optimism of all that life had to offer, accompanied by that radiant smile and twinkling blue eyes which remain undimmed, will be long cherished by all who knew and loved her so well.
