Dear Roger and Family,
I am heartbroken to learn of Helen's passing. She was such a treasured friend, and I feel deeply privileged to have shared precious moments with her during her final visit to Manila last June. When we met for breakfast at the Manila Peninsula, her vibrant spirit shone as brightly as ever. Even as she gently shared the news of her remaining four months—words that I couldn't bring myself to accept—she remained the same wonderful Helen, filling our time together with her characteristic stories, infectious laughter, and passionate plans. Her strength and grace in facing her illness, while maintaining such joy in life, spoke volumes of her extraordinary character.
Helen's boundless love, generosity, wit, and devotion to others defined her beautiful life. Through the educational foundation she and Roger established, she created a legacy that will continue touching countless lives. Her vision for InterEd stands as a testament to her passionate belief in the transformative power of education. And I am grateful that we had been a part of her journey
She kept in constant touch with friend through her messages which were filled with hope, acceptance, and steadfast faith—each one reflecting her profound trust in God's plan. Even in her most challenging moments, she remained a beacon of grace, facing each day with remarkable courage and serenity.
As we mourn her loss, I find solace in 1 Thessalonians 4:14: 'For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.' Though the void she leaves is immense, we take comfort in knowing that this is not our final goodbye.
Dearest Helen, thank you for the gift of your friendship. Until we meet again in God's perfect time.
With deepest sympathy and love
