Sharon Heather Hubbard (30 Apr 1951 - 12 Oct 2024)
Funeral Director
It is with great sadness that the family of Sharon Heather Hubbard, announce her death on October 12th, 2024, after bravely battling Motor Neurone Disease. Sharon’s courage and determination in the face of her diagnosis was clearly evident and seen by her family and friends, who supported her with love and encouragement.
After a busy career in Accounting, Sharon retired in 2015. She was delighted by the prospect of travelling with Paula, her wife, around the United Kingdom and Europe in their Motorhome and enjoyed many adventures.
Sharon also had a deep appreciation for nature, especially wildlife. She found joy in watching birds and had an incredible ability to identify them by their songs. She also loved to observe the comings and goings of garden wildlife through her camera, delighting in sightings of badgers and foxes. Music was another passion, bringing her comfort and joy, and she shared a love for travel with Paula, creating cherished memories in many places.
She leaves behind her beloved wife Paula, who has been by her side throughout her illness.
Sharon also leaves her step daughters, Amy and Holly, step daughter in law, Zoë, grandchildren, Elliott, Aidan, Peter and Joni who were always close to her heart. Sharon was also close to her niece Karen and nephew Andrew, his wife Tracy and their son Jack. Sharon's family and friends will forever remember her for her kindness and strength.
We are deeply grateful to the Lane Fox Unit at St Thomas' Hospital, the West Sussex Neurological Team, and St Barnabas Hospice. The Byworth Ward and Palliative Team at Worthing Hospital provided thoughtful and compassionate care, which we will always remember.
Throughout Sharon's illness, the incredible volunteers from the Motor Neurone Disease Association provided invaluable support.
Thanks also to Adam Levene, Art Therapist. Time spent with him and Paula attending art therapy sessions offered her calmness and peace, and she always looked forward to her time there.
Sharon remains greatly loved, is deeply missed and will always be remembered for her laughter, kindness and determination.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held on Friday, 8th November at Cissbury Barns.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Motor Neurone Disease Association, West Sussex Branch.
