In loving memory of Maureen Griffiths who sadly passed away on 2nd October 2024.
Maureen was born on the 15th October 1934 in Woolston Southampton, a precious gift to Dot and Bill Duffin. Maureen grew up with Leo, her sister and David her brother. There was a very special close bond between the three throughout their lifetime.
Woolston is where Maureen spent her school days, and when she finished school she took a job working at a corner shop in Poole Road, Woolston. This is where she met the love of her life, Roger.
Maureen took a liking to young Roger, who was lodging in Poole Road when not at sea. By chance Maureen found out it was Roger's birthday and sent a cheeky birthday card that was the start of a life long marriage. Maureen was married to Roger on the 25th august 1956 at Peartree church in Woolston. Maureen and Roger went on to have four children, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Maureen had various jobs in her lifetime, but the hardest job of all was raising four children.
Maureen had associations with Southampton Amateur Rowing Club, Netley British Legion and Mayfield Bowling Club. Maureen's passion was dancing, and she set up a dance group for senior ladies and gents which was very successful. During retirement years, Maureen spent special times making the most of their retirement years together having many lovely holidays with their life long friends Del and Brian.
Sadly ill health took over Maureen and Roger, and they moved to Abbey House Nursing home in 2019. Roger sadly passed away a few years later. The loss of Maureen's beloved Roger was devastating, but with the support of her family and carers at Abbey House, Maureen carried on until the 2nd October 2024, just thirteen days before her 90th birthday.
Maureen passed away peacefully.
