Mum sadly died at home on the 7th October, at 92 years old, from metastatic lung cancer, only diagnosed on 22nd August. She was living her best life just six weeks before, living completely independently. Supporting Mum and the family during this time was the Ellenor charity, they were extremely helpful to us, Mum wanted donations to this charity rather than flowers.
Mum wanted her funeral to be a happy event. In her beloved home of 65 years, near the end she carefully wrote instructions for us to all follow in her 'Wishes Book'. If people can wear bright colours to her funeral, she would be very pleased, mum's favourite colour to wear was blue. Auntie Eileen was an amazing auntie. So many wonderful memories and a huge part of my childhood. The best shortbread biscuits with the squares and the box of little Lindt bunnies at Easter. How she hosted all those Christmas’s I’ll never know. A wonderful lady xxx

I only knew Eileen for a short while but she was a lovely lady with a great sense of humour and very positive about life. I'm glad Sylvia and I got to visit her when we did. She will be sadly missed at Bowls Club xx
