Our condolences on hearing of Brendan passing away. I first met Brendan shortly after the Casey family arrived in Cedar Road, Dartford, from Dublin. Brendan was 12 years old and I was 10. I lived with my family at 7 Oakfield Lane, Dartford. After kicking a ball around in the street, we became firm friends. We would meet up at each other’s homes and play football along Cedar Road at the Green, and down at Oakfield Park. In our early teens we shared the same group of friends and spent most of our Saturdays in Dimachio’s Cafe in Hythe Street listening to the jukebox and discussing the important things of life, like whether the Beatles or the Rolling Stones or Elvis would be the next Number 1. We also attended St Anselem’s Catholic Youth Club for other social events. By this time, Brendan had commenced his Electrician Apprenticeship and we didn’t see as much of each other, but always kept in contact. During this time my parents asked Brendan if he would install a brand new electric wall clock in our house. My Mum and Dad were very pleased he came over and did this job but much to our amusement, we found the time on the clock was incorrect as it was running backwards!!!

In 1968 I decided to emigrate to Australia and Brendan emigrated to the Salutation Pub in Highfield Road. In late teens we went our own way. In 1984, Patricia and I moved to Dartford with our three young daughters, Rebecca, Michelle and Susan. We connected with Brendan, Lindsay, John, Tim and Kerry and spent good times together before we retuned to Oz in 1986.

Our daughter Rebecca went to live in the UK in 1997, accompanied by myself, until she settled and found a job. We spent time catching up with Brendan, Lindsay and their family. In December 2002, sadly Rebecca, who was 25 and was living in Deventer in the Netherlands, passed away from cancer. Brendan and Lindsay came over for her funeral, which meant a lot to the both of us.

In 2010 when we went overseas to visit our daughter Michelle and her husband Chris, who were living on the Isle of Man, we also visited Dartford where we stayed with Brendan and Lindsay.

We were very sad to hear of Brendan passing away, but we will always treasure all of these memories. Our best wishes to all of Brendan’s family.

Brendan was great company and a character , who would often refer to his Irish roots, especially after a few pints of Guinness, and regale us with a rendition of The Rare Auld Times.

Brendan was Captain of Dartford Golf Club in 2003/04. The following year a group of us had an enjoyable break in Italy, where we came upon a restaurant, where I took this appropriate picture.

We miss you old friend. God Bless.

It was a great shock to us to hear our dear friend Brendan passing away recently… he was such a lovely endearing person. Our deepest condolences go to his lovely family. We came to know Brendan around the turn of the century due to his and my husbands mutual hobby / business in antique golfing memorabilia. he was so incredibly knowledgeable and very kindly told us a lot about the business, even regripping the vintage hickory clubs… and he introduced us to the BCGS and playing hickory competition in Kent - foto enclosed separately - over the years we came to know him and Lindsay and the kids. Such a loving family… on our many trips to England we would always drop in at Dartford and share a drink and a meal and sometimes play golf. They visited us in Holland as well. Unfortunately the last time we saw him was May last year. As this year he wasn’t able to see us due to hospital appointments. We did have a nice long chat with him though only a couple of months ago. Very sadly we will not be able to attend the funeral. But wish the family all the best in remembering such a lovely friend, father and grandfather. May he rest in peace🙏🏼

I last caught up with Brendan last November at a golf collectors fair at Royal Blackheath Golf Club. We'd had a great chat during the day and decided to bagsy a couple of spots at a table at dinner to continue into the evening. He always had great stories to share about him and John Sherwood living their "trading" dreams. RIP my friend.
