In loving memory of Kathleen Morgan, who sadly passed away on 26th September 2024.
Known to those that knew and loved her as Kathy, her passing leaves an immeasurable hole in the lives of her husband Chris, 2 children Karen & Kevin and 6 grandchildren, who she was immensely proud of, Ryan, Dylan, Aidan, Grace, Ella & Scarlet.
Kathy was born and raised in Watford and had strong links to Ireland throughout her life. As a child she made a lifelong friend in Maggie and on many occasions, they have both recalled stories of mischief and good times they have shared during their school and teenage years.
Kathy moved to Dunstable in 1970 with her first husband and started her family in 1978. She was a wonderful, loving mum who supported her children through every up and down of their life. We hold dear many cherished memories of family holidays including many fun, eventful camping holidays and a special family holiday to Disney World Florida. Kathy made family time together special, creating family traditions, Karen and Kevin will hold dear many childhood memories of easter egg hunts in the garden and family Christmas moments together. In later years she carried those traditions forward for her grandchildren, Boxing Day became our big family day, Kathy would have the whole family over, cooking a huge meal for up to 16 people, which was always finished off with the best lemon meringue pie you have ever tasted. The day was always full of fun and games and she had a pivotal role in creating those special memories for her grandchildren. Kathy loved the Christmas panto, she would take her family every year and we all hold very dear memories of her infectious laugh and the good times we shared. Christmas time will simply never be the same without her.
In 1995 Kathy married her second husband Chris and she started an exciting new adventure with him. At the age when many people start to slow down in life, Kathy found a new lease for life through the hobbies she enjoyed with Chris. Together they cycled as a part of the Icknield Road Club. They took part in many club events regularly cycling up to 100 miles on their weekend rides but always finding somewhere nice to stop for a cup of tea. Kathy was the first lady member to ride a 12-hour Time Trial and set a club record. In 2000, Kathy and Chris cycled the Lands End to John O’Groats bike ride in 10 days and some years later they rode the London to Brighton night ride, completing both rides on a tandem bike. Chris and Kathy also loved touring the country on their motorbike. For her 70th birthday they completed Route 66 in America and only this year they completed a motorbike tour across Southern Australia and Tasmania. As a regular gym goer, Kathy would give the young ones in her circuit training class a run for their money and she always provided the fun and laughter. Kathy excelled in everything she did, she loved to live life to the fullest and never let her age or health be a barrier to her life.
Kathy worked her whole life in retail and customer facing serving roles and was always very proud to serve the public. Kathy loved to meet people, finding out their stories, customers were drawn to her charm and kind nature. We know her Nationwide colleagues and her many customers will miss her dearly.
Kathy was a force of nature, a remarkable woman, who never let anything get her down, she greeted everyday with positivity, and she will be dearly missed by all who love her.
