Sorry I couldn’t join you today. Darren lived upstairs from me for a couple of years in the early 90’s. He was a great friend. He would often say I saved his life as I found him asleep on top of a washing machine in the basement one winter night. He was freezing, we brought him in, wrapped him in blankets & fed him cups of tea until he warmed up.
He was such a great guy, we shared many happy memories over the years. We bumped into him in Woolacombe in 2008 and it was great to reconnect. He’d send me mad messages & was always trying to get me to do Beautiful Days with him. Cheers my old friend. Sleep well 💖

Darren was incredibly patient with children. At a summer party Emma's daughter proceeded to repeatedly drench Darren with water which he took in good humour. He felt his own daughter's absence keenly and often spoke about her.

Darren was a very fond third parent to Adam's twin sons. This is Darren holding his five week old godson Richard on a day out.

I have known Darren since I was 17 . We shared some sensible and some er let’s just say rather crazy and humorous times.
When we both worked briefly for the same organisation he showed me round. He was very proud of what he did. It was a sad loss when he left that organisation for the people he left behind but I know the politics got to him.

He was very caring. He had a kind intelligent side, indeed was a very complex person. I will miss him.
Glad I knew you friend you lit up the world and it’s that bit darker now you have gone.

So sad to hear of Darren's passing.
I worked with him as a messenger in the Daily Mail Tape Room in the early 80s,
He was a lovely guy who was taken too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.
