Such a legend, a man who never failed to make me smile. The bestest friend to my dad. Won't be the same not seeing you down the football club on a Saturday afternoon. All my love to Helen & family ❤️ Darryll will be very missed but always remembered xxxx

Darryll was a true legend.
I had the pleasure of working with him for 14 years @ BSG.
He was such a character, as everyone knows!
I’ll miss our Monday rants, the banter, the mickey taking (mostly @ my expense!), pop quiz/ten to the top, Greggs sausage rolls & the fashion policing too!
He was also a very kind & family-oriented man & had a heart of gold.
When he told me his diagnosis he comforted me & told me to ‘pull myself together tart’! - that was Darryll for you
I’ll miss you so much Darryll, will never forget you, fly high with those kites & ‘do well buh’!

Hard to believe I’m writing this, buried my 98 year old mum this morning but somehow Darryll’s passing at such a young age feels sadder.
I spoke to him shortly after his diagnosis and I was in awe of his bravery and total lack of self pity, Heck, he was trying to cheer me up!
I’ve known Darryll for over 50 years and together we formed the defensive partnership for Barking, Stowupland, and Sally Army football teams at various times.
Darryll took no prisoners, I can still hear him saying, “Get up you tart” to numerous forwards writhing on the floor at his feet!
Once when playing against each other we had a flair up and actually hit each other, then stood and laughed like drains at our own stupidity.
He loved a laugh, usually at my expense, whether it be my standing on the Bee Orchid he’d thoughtfully taken me to see, my post op bodily imperfections that he found so hilarious, or falling over inebriated on his patio and him drawing a chalk line around me like a crime scene detective and collapsing with laughter. and he never forgot any of them!
Thanks Darryll for the laughs, the gigs, the camaraderie, we’re all going to miss you so much and the world’s a sadder place without you.
Graham

Memories of Darryll

Asking myself what to write about Darryll’s life,
Do I start with the loving family and devoted wife.
Kids and grandkids were mentioned very often,
Loving conversations and words said to soften.

The interests were many for this gentle man,
Putting people at ease and doing all he can.
His faith was solid and helped clarify it all,
A proud husband and father walking tall.

A Harley rider who loved to lead the pack,
Always looking forward and never looking back.
His positive approach and contagious smile,
Would soften the heart with his friendly style.

He was equally fascinated by birds of prey,
Any of them seen would brighten up his day.
He also played golf and tried changing the game,
A whole round played with one club to his name.

Mostly Darryll was the greatest friend to us all,
If anything was needed he would answer the call.
He told me how to understand the Suffolk twang,
And for the lessons he taught me I’m a better man.

This message is clear and meant from the heart,
I will miss this man who I loved from the start.
We all have a memory of the Darryll we all knew,
Smiling or dancing to an old punk rock crew.

R.I.P. Buh.

Don't know where to start really, just thinking about how funny and uplifting you were without even knowing just how much you lifted spirits. The most fondest memory was how you were with dogs (seems silly I know), this huge giant of a man cuddling and teasing these small things.
The world is a slightly dimmer place without you and I feel for your gorgeous family. Rest peaceful dear Darryll

To a great friend for over 40+ years (Sausage Fingers) I first met this crazy, funny, straight talking bloke when I was a 17 year old apprentice Chef at RAF Wattisham. Knocky was one of the Wattisham Wombles crew. Soon became friends and played in the RAF Wattisham Catering section football team. A good footballer. You wouldn’t want play against him if you valued your legs.
Over the years attended many gigs, UK Subs, SLF, Sham 69, Skids and many more. Most weeks at Stowmarket FC. Will miss your banter Bruv. RIP

I met Darryll at my first Harley-Davidson riders club meeting 3 years ago. Darryll, knowing I was a new member, took the time to sit with me, and made me feel very welcome. I am sure many of you have a similar story to tell. I will always be grateful for that. Because of him, I have met many great people through the club, and I am proud to be a member of what Darryl was a very important part of.

Rest in peace Darryll, you will be remembered, do well buh.
