It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Richard, who passed away peacefully on 9th of September after a short illness.

He was a much-loved husband, father, Grampy and friend to many, who will be greatly missed having been taken far too soon.

Richard will be remembered with affection for his kindness and ability to chat to absolutely anyone about anything and his love of travel, especially Barbados, hockey, music, farming, family and friends. Happy memories for so many of us.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday 3rd of October at Noon at West Wiltshire Crematorium and afterwards at Chalk Barn, Rushal and then to The Royal Oak, Easterton for 6 o’clock

Family flowers only and donations, if desired, to Brighter Futures to raise money for Great Western Hospitals who looked after Richard – www.brighterfuturesgwh.nhs.uk

We only met Richard recently when he and Sally visited our local at The New Inn at Coate. They were both lovely people and we were hugely saddened by this news. Our condolences to Sally with a message to please visit again as there will always be a warm welcome from us.

Jean and I are so sad to hear of Richard's passing, we remember many happy days and evenings with him during our hockey playing years and the words above in the tribute are just so appropriate. Our love and thoughts are with Sally and the rest of their family at this difficult time. Sorry we can't be there for the celebration of Richard's life on 3rd of October but are sure all his family, friends and Marlborough HC will give him an appropriate send-off.
