I really miss my dear friend Dennis who was so full of kindness, humour and fascinating local historical facts and stories of years gone by. I really enjoyed our many conversations which covered so many topics including how to make your own sausage rolls, which I duly did! Although I never got round to trying Morrisons pigs trotters! Dennis loved to talk about his family with so much love and pride and he was absolutely thrilled about the surprise party they carefully arranged for his 90th birthday and was so impressed that he had no clue about it until he walked in the door. I know he always cherished those memories. I have so many happy memories of dearest Dennis, particularly my last visit the day before he passed away. Dennis had never looked happier or more content, as jovial as ever, we talked about pubs in the area, some of which have gone, and I Googled old photos and showed him and then he would tell me about them. Dennis was also such a thoughtful man, asking me how my job was going and, more importantly, what I was having for dinner! Always a favourite topic of ours! Dearest Dennis, thank you for being my friend for the last 8 years, thank you for your kindness, your humour and fascinating stories. I will miss you. May you rest in peace 🙏 xx
