It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Hammacott, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and cherished friend, who left us peacefully on 3rd September 2024 at the age of 76, after a brave fight against the BRAC1 cancer gene.

A devoted and loving wife to her husband Roy, and mother to three children, she brought light and joy to everyone who knew her. For over 50 years Terry was a dedicated teacher, inspiring generations of students with her passion for learning and her commitment to helping others grow. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of countless children and her influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Terry had an abiding love for life’s beauty. She found joy in her garden, where she lovingly tended her roses, and in the arts, which spoke to her love for culture, dance, music and creativity. She was a person who valued human connection and had a remarkable ability to bring people together with her warmth, kindness and generosity.

Her family, friends, and all who knew her will forever cherish her vibrant spirit, grace, and the love she shared so freely. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1:30pm on 1st October at West Suffolk Crematorium (Abbey Chapel), Risby, Bury St Edmunds IP28 6RR where we will gather to honour the beautiful soul that touched us all.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pancreatic Cancer UK in her memory.

I worked with terry at Stonham Aspal School for a few years. My son Thomas was taught by her . she was a supportive and encouraging teacher and Thomas loved having her as his teacher. he has grown up and still talks about her. She has been a good friend to me and will be sorely missed . her suffering is over.
