In loving memory of Errol Brookstein who sadly passed away on Monday 26th August 2024, aged 77yrs

Errol was born in Durban, South Africa, to Florence & Donald Brookstein. He is the eldest brother of Denise, Gerald, Rodney and June.

Errol's father came to England and then sent for the family in 1962, sponsored by the Methodist Church. His mother and brothers arrived on a Cape Town Castle Luxury Liner then Errol, aged 16yrs, and his sister Denise followed shortly after; flying by a DC10 aircraft via Mozambique, Portugal and Brussels. They arrived in the worst winter on record (The Big Freeze). His youngest sister, June, was born in England a couple of years later.

The family needed Errol to help with finances, so he immediately went to work in the Stock Pot restaurant, Earls Court, with his father (chef).

Errol met his wife, Malle (pronounced Mal-la) in 1963 and have been together ever since. Errol and Malle have a daughter Tanya, son Stephen and grandchildren Samuel, Harrison, Hamish and Esme.

Errol had various employments, ranging from :-

Dishwashing, cleaning, gardening, labouring
HGV Class 1 driver
London Transport Bus driver - Route Master 159, Westminster
Chauffeur - King Hussain of Jordan, VIPs, Celebrities
Police Trained - Security Dog Handler

He loves God, family, dogs, cars, gardening, talking (putting the world to rights), walking (100mph!), cooking, good home cooked food

We first met Errol (and Malle) nearly two decades ago. Being fans of his son, we saw them at many venues, Errol always wearing his Proud Dad face.
He was incredibly kind, friendly and inclusive to us. Over the years we shared many conversations and he was always welcoming and warm and we looked forward to seeing him and Malle .
We remember him fondly, he was a true gentleman in the best sense of the word and he will be greatly missed.
He must have left a huge hole in his family and I send my condolences to them, although I am sure he has left them with a miriad of wonderful memories which will leave them with a smile on their face when they speak of him.
