Dear Bill,

There's a lot from which to have well earned rest.

Cartoonist of genius - giving laughter with preposterous productivity.

Lover of ink, of slinging it and of niche printed publications.

Victorious wrestler with watercolour. Connoisseur of cricket, Glossop, pangolins ( literal and digital magazine ) and upon occasion, Preston.

Much missed friend who posed as Editor of The Bloghorn and the almost entirely genial Chairleg of UK @procartoonists for many strange and yet strangely productive years.

Your personal and our collective morale was maintained with plentiful cigarettes and a deep love of everyday chaos ( reader, there was always plenty ).

The sound of throaty sniggering amid the sound of crashing street bins during day long meetings in the Old Bird's Custard Factory in Birmingham will remain long after you.

And there's got to be a(nother) gag in there somewhere.

Rest well.
Matthew

A giant among us in so many ways, and certainly among those of us in the profession he shared and loved, as we all loved him.

Godspeed, Bill - simply unforgettable.

t was a privilege to know you, to sit next to you at Shrewsbury cartoon festival dinners and laugh non-stop from the starters all the way through to the dessert and beyond. You were the king of the gag, and a lovely lovely man to boot, always supportive of new cartoonists. Goodbye Bill, rest easy.

A brilliant cartoonist and as much a joy as a privilege to work with on the PCO - Bill somehow made even the most humdrum business an entertainment.
