In loving memory of Sarah Todhunter, who passed away on Monday 19th August 2024 following a long and difficult battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her husband Richard, her two sons Ralph and Theo and all of her family.
Sarah had a long career of public service with a number of roles. These culminated in her appointment as Town Clerk to Devizes Town Council, where she became a well-known and respected member of the local community. She served nearly 20 years before her medical retirement in 2018.
Sarah also worked tirelessly and enthusiastically in a large number of voluntary roles. She was Chair of Governors at Seend Primary School and a Governor at both Melksham Oak School and the Manor School in Melksham. She was a committee member of Melksham Swimming Club, Seend Social Club and The Golden Fleece and Whitley Cricket Clubs. On top of that, Sarah was a Team Manager for Corsham Cricket Academy for several years. Sarah was instrumental in revitalising the fortunes of Seend Women’s Institute when it was in danger of folding and became its President.
Sarah’s funeral will take place at Holy Cross Church, Seend, at 1.30pm on Tuesday 3rd September 2024. All who knew Sarah are welcome to attend. There is no dress code, but a “splash of purple”, which was Sarah’s favourite colour, would be appropriate. The service will be followed by a private cremation at Semington. Following the church service, everyone is welcome to attend Seend Community Centre for refreshments and to share memories of Sarah.
Family flowers only, please.
Donations in memory of Sarah will go towards: Parkinsons UK and The Wiltshire Alzheimer’s Day Centre in Devizes.
