In Loving Memory of our Dad and Grandad

A light went out on Earth for us at 2:05pm 3rd Dec 2015
That day we said goodbye
And on that day another star was born,
One of the brightest in the sky
Reaching through the darkness
With its rays of purest white
Lighting up the Heavens
As you, Dad, Grandad, once lit up our lives
With beams of love to heal
The broken heart’s you left behind
Are always in our memory
Your lovely star will shine

As you will all know, our Dad, Grandad, loved a wee flutter; one of his favourites was Rapido, as a final “flutter” tribute to Jimmy, we asked you all to select from 1 to 10 numbers, we put the forms into Dad's local "Turf Accountant" William Hill, Carntyne Square.

We had winnings of £45 and William Hill has kindly donated another £50, we will donate a total of £100 to Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland.

We would like to thank you all for your support, kind wishes and prayers.

A reading from the prophet Isaiah (48-17-19)

Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:
I the LORD, your God, teach you what is good for you,
I lead you in the way you must go.
If only you had been alert to my commandments,
your happiness would be like a river,
your integrity like the waves of the sea,
Your children would have been numbered like the sand,
Your descendants as many as its grains,
Never would your name have been cut off or blotted out before me.

First Reading (Thursday 10th Dec 2015)
A reading from the First Letter of St. John (3,1-2)
Think of the love that the Father has lavished on us,
by letting us be called God's children;
and that is what we are.
Because the world refused to acknowledge him,
therefore it does not acknowledge us.
My dear people, we are already the children of God,
but what we are to be in the future has not yet been revealed;
all we know is, that when it is to be revealed
we shall be like him
because we shall see him as he really is.
This is the Word of the Lord.
Responsorial Psalm 4
R The Lord is compassion and love.
The Lord is compassion and love, slow to anger and rich in mercy.
He does not treat us according to our sins nor repay us according to our faults. R
As a Father has compassion for his sons, the Lord has pity on those who fear him;
for he knows of what we are made, he remembers that we are dust. R
As for man, his days are like grass; he flowers like the flower of the field;
the wind blows and he is gone and his place never sees him again. R
But the love of the Lord is everlasting upon those who hold him in fear;
his justice reaches out to children's children when they keep his covenant in truth. R
