It is with immeasurable sadness that we have to share the news that David Ieuan Bowen passed away on the 11th of August. His passing has come as a shock to us and we are trying to understand this new normal.

With a personality that could make anyone feel loved and welcome, the world has become a little bit sadder.

David, or as many knew him as Ieuan, was a devoted husband, loving father, annoying little brother. caring uncle, brother in law, proud godfather and friend.

Throughout his life Ieuan experienced many lives, the Air Training Corps, the Fire Service, Male Voice Choir, and one of the founders / directors of Heritage Funerals.

His passion for animals led him in the last few years to be a valuable volunteer at Whipsnade Zoo but it wasn't just the animals he loved, he also loved chatting to everyone and sharing the photos he had taken with people.

Each of these held a special part to him and he touched the lives of all those he met, always with a smile, a joke and a 'how are you sweetheart'.

Out of all Ieuan's accomplishments, it was his family he was most proud of, Mum and I were without question the centre of his world but he always had time for his his wider family whenever the occasion arose including his Niece, Nephews, Great Nephew and Nieces and his Godchildren. Ieuan loved telling anyone who would listen about the accomplishments of his family and would share every photo with pride.

We want to celebrate Ieuan's life, and would ask anyone in attendance to wear what they feel most comfortable in however, red wouldn't be a bad idea as did you know he was Welsh?!? he may have mentioned it once or twice.

Flowers or donations to Harefield Hospital are welcome (please see link on the top right hand side of this page.

We would be most grateful if you could share any memories and photo's you may have of this unique man below and if you plan on joining us on the day to celebrate his life, please click the 'I am attending button'

Thank you for your kindness, and the support we have received so far, and in advance for all the support we will need in the months and years to come.
Sam & Rosemary

So sorry to hear of Dave's passing, he was my Squadron Leader in the Air Cadets 460 squadron during the late 1970s early 80s. I went on to join the R.A.F. such fond memories of my time in the cadets, we went on lots of annual camps together. Dave promoted me to Corporal and also demoted me for being an idiot!!

I cannot think of many kinder, funnier or more genuine people that I have ever met. Ieuan’s welcome into his extended family upon marrying his god daughter meant a huge amount to me, and I will never forget his words to me on our wedding day, for which he was a superb Master of Ceremonies. Rest in Peace to a unique and authentic man.x

Our Taff will be sadly missed, specially at the DCC where we spent numerous thursday evenings of laughs and bonne humeur, and trying with little success to play snooker along the way.
He knew everyone, and everyone knew him and loved to have a chat and share a joke with him.
He had a bonhomie wich was contagious to everyone.
We already missed him while he could not come due to illness, and it is difficult to envisage not to see him again, mainly when there is only three of us.
Rest in peace my old Taff from Tenby.

Rosemary and Sam - My memories of Ieuan bring a smile to my face. He was a happy, vibrant man who always had a twinkle in his eye and a kind word to say. We always knew when he was at the side of the hockey pitch because we could either hear laughter or loud words of encouragement resonating from the sidelines! If I recall, he was the only person who had a proper full first aid kit too!
I am so sorry for your loss and send my love to you both xxx
