I still cannot believe he’s gone. He was a one-of-a-kind lad. To say that he was flawless is to say that every human is. Nevertheless, his flaws were just there to hide his insecurities. This lovely man was loud, kind and funny. Whilst staying over at ours, he actually asked for a double Baconator a couple hours after being sick. I triple checked with him and he insisted he was fine. He also spent the evenings watching The Walking Dead and drinking Red Bull with my sister (his girlfriend at the time). We loved him and accepted him into our family and we mourn for what the future could’ve brought. He felt accepted by us. He joined for church, he hanged out with my little brother and you could just feel the energy of the room just change. I remember the first morning he was over, I snuck downstairs to watch TV quietly only, to my horror, he shouted “GOOD MORNING!!! ALEXA, PLAY SOME HAPPY MUSIC!”. As a Brit, we don’t do mornings; especially Monday mornings. During half term. He was anxious to visit us at first as he probably didn’t know what to expect… he ended up staying with us for two weeks. As I mentioned earlier, he was sick, so that may or may not have contributed to that. My sister slept on the sofa to give him some space. It didn’t stop him from being positive and singing in the bath or cracking jokes or just being a great guy all around. I’ll never forget him. I wish I spent more time with him. Dan, you crazy, positive, singing guardian angel, we’ll never forget you as you sure did make an impact on our lives.
P.S. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to make the funeral. 💐
