In loving memory of Michele Dennis who sadly passed away on 26th July 2024
Born in Redhill General Hospital (old site) on 12 September 1958, first daughter to John and Hanni Dennis, Michele (she took the nickname Miki in her teens) lived in Addison Road Caterham, and was joined by her little sister Heidi in 1960. She attended Whyteleafe Primary and Grammar schools, studied theatre art and design at Croydon College, and later achieved a BA from the Open University in Humanities. She worked at the Brewing Research Institute, William Hill Coffee shop, Polka Children's theatre and freelance as a seamstress and costumier, making amazing applique and historical costumes.
She travelled extensively and loved history, culture, literature and world religions.
She loved her fur babies, dogs Susie and Pip, rabbits Tomsk and Adric and cats Florence and Lulu, plus various tortoises and guinea pigs.
After John passed away in 1988, Miki and Hanni moved to Bletchingley and lived together, working from there on sci fi, fantasy, tv and film costumes and going to conventions worldwide, and medieval events with the Far Isles. When Hanni died in 2021 she made the brave move to Dereham in Norfolk with Florence the cat, where she had a lovely little bungalow. She was happy there but her health failed her and the last few months were hard on her. She had a fall in her house on the 22 July, and although the doctors and nurses at Addenbrookes were amazing, we lost her. Heidi and Tom were with her at the end and she died peacefully.
