Margaret was born Margaret Allsopp, in Ruddington on 7th February 1936. Her parents - Joseph and Gladys -
had four boys alongside Margaret; John, Cliff, Dennis and Alan, and all lived at 111 Wilford Road.
As a young woman, Margaret enjoyed dancing and drinking in Nottingham with her girfriends and a number of American GI's. She met Alan Heatherley in a jazz club and they married in 1961, having a daughter Catherine, in 1967. Unfortunately, the marriage didn't last and Margaret took her daughter back to Wilford Road where they lived with her parents until finding a home of their own.
Margaret met Les in 1972 and they lived together at 82 St Marys Crescent until his death in January 1983.
She was a dinner lady at James Peacock Infant School and remembered all the children who came through, often following their lives and achievements with great interest.
Margarets great passion in life was conservation. She was a founder member of the Friends of Rushcliffe Country park and was instrumental in setting up the bee garden, participating in the willow weaving and hedgerow laying. She enjoyed travelling and would often go to countries to see the nature and wild birds.
She ended her life back in Ruddington at Orchard House where she felt settled and at home.
She leaves behind her daughter Catherine, grandson Jimmy, nieces Sharon, Michelle, Susan, Jane, Sally and nephews Michael, David, Kevin and Lee..
Plus great nieces Paige, Elesha, Darcy, Grace, Lisa , Poppy and Amy, and great nephews Alfie & Craig.
