Stella, affectionately known as “Amoke”, was born on 3rd October 1961, in Lanlate, Oyo State, Nigeria. It was here that she met her childhood sweetheart, husband and father to her 3 children, Adejare in 1977.

Stella followed her husband to the UK in 1985 and they started their new life together in Lewisham, London, getting married in 1986.

After completing her Business and Finance degree at Lewisham College, Stella began to take a personal interest in merchandising, particularly jewellery and textiles. She started to trade independently, quickly establishing a global network of contacts and sources.

Outside of her business endeavours, Stella found joy in simple pleasures, whether it was talking to her brothers or friends on the phone, seeing her grandchildren or going to Church. She particularly enjoyed travelling, both for business and pleasure, often accompanying or being accompanied by her husband. She was a true globetrotter having travelled across the continents, including China, USA, Egypt, Dubai, Israel and various countries in Europe. Stella, a Princess herself, was privileged to meet the Head of the Royal Family twice, once in 2005 and again most recently in May 2024 (meeting the newly crowned King, no less!).

Stella also always helped those in need when she was able to and believed this was important. From sending food to the homeless in Nigeria, to sending to those in the UK, she always wanted to give something back. Even her business customers would say she’s
generous!

Stella’s greatest source of pride and joy was her family, both immediate and extended. She always tried to ensure that the family got together and stayed in touch and was essentially the connector that brought all the family and friends together.

Stella is survived by her devoted husband Adejare and their 3 sons, Tunde, Yomi (“Benny”) and Lanre (“Tommy”) as well as 3 beautiful grandchildren.

Boyin, I was so saddened to hear this shocking news. Words cannot describe how shocked your demise is to me. My heart goes out to your family at this time of grief.
Though we lost contact for many years before reconnecting about four years ago, I am glad I had a chance to know you. You were a peaceful and easygoing person who did not like trouble. You were a special person who will be sorely missed. I cannot believe you passed on. May your gentle soul rest in peace until we meet to part no more—Adeboyin sunre oo.

I can’t put into words the shock & sadness me & my family felt when we heard that you had passed our dear Stella. We know God has a plan for us before we are even born & it was a blessing that part of his plan was for you to move to number 38. I’m more than thankful that you were my neighbour, a friend & you had the most beautiful soul. You were always so thoughtful & so kind. Our love, thoughts & prayers are with Jerry, Albert, Ben & Tom, you raised some wonderful young men, your sons who will carry a part of you in them forever as will their children, your beautiful grandchildren. We will never forget you Stella , always in our hearts forever. God bless love Jenny & girls xxx

Mamatunde is one of many women I could list who were not related to me by blood but who was closer than blood relative. You were my sister born of another mum. I missed you daily.
You are generous because of who God has made you. Your winning smile and laughter are infectious and endearing.
Part of a godly legacy is that a woman’s children will “rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28 nkjv).
Your faith in Jesus Christ is foundational to you being a great wife, mum, and grandmother. Your love for your family is unconditional.
Your unfolding love for all your grandchildren is such a joy to watch and witness. You left a vacuum that can not be easily filled. Your boys and generations to come will indeed rise up and call you blessed.
God bless the memory of Adeboyin Oyewole (Mamatunde).
Good night, dear friend and sister.
We live in the hope and certainty of the resurrection of the dead.

I trust you are in a special place now. May God favour your spirit & reward you in paradise
